We’ve been a little house bound with all this freezing temperature bologna. As a result I’ve actually had a chance to take stock of how messy my house is and do something about it. Can I tell you something without you judging me? Probably not, but I’m going to tell you anyways. I bought my first mop. And it still took me like three weeks to get around to using it. When I was done everything was all shiny and clean (except my forehead, which was just shiny with sweat) and I was so glad I had done it. Then my kids immediately threw food on the floor and some dudes walked through the kitchen with snowy shoes. Now I’ll probably never do it again.
As far as food goes, here’s a bit of what we’ve been eating:
You probably saw this link floating around to old, hideous recipes. I couldn’t help but share my horror. Everything in a loaf!
Speaking of recipes, I tried this recipe for vegan coconut bacon. I’m not a huge bacon fan to begin with (surprise) but I thought this was totally edible and probably even delicious. The other people eating it weren’t incredibly enthusiastic in their responses, but seemed to enjoy it enough. I definitely thought it acted more like bacon in my sandwich than coconut, which should be an obvious win. If you’re vegan but lusting for bacon I’d definitely say give it a try.
Searching through all of Netflix streaming for something to watch might be the worst thing to ever happen to a young, white, middle class woman living in Wisconsin. It takes up so much of our time that I’ve starting doing it during the day to plan what we’re going to watch at night. Luckily, Netflix knows just what my husband likes to watch (so not true).
Let’s talk tv. Obviously there’s not much on since I’ve been trolling through Netflix at all hours. Still, I enjoy Parenthood every week (can I call it enjoy when I’m actually having an emotional breakdown for the whole hour?). As much as I don’t want the season to end I really DO want it to end just so they’ll wrap up some of this uncomfortableness. Also – Sarah. Can she just stop having so many boyfriends?! Girls has been stellar so far this season. Marnie is the queen of making me uncomfortable in a really funny way. Adam’s sister (love that actress by the way) makes me uncomfortable in a really uncomfortable way. Yikes. I really hate everything happening on Downton Abbey, but I guess there needs to be some kind of drama. Boy, now I’m beginning to wonder why I watch tv at all! My husband and I also started watching Being Human again, but let’s not even get into how ridiculous that show it.
Ooh! I did see a few really good movies. I watched Blackfish by myself because my husband wasn’t feeling well and then instantly regretted it because it was so good. I just always feel like if we watch anything good it needs to be together, or one person will always be missing out on conversation and life in general. Anyways, if you haven’t heard of it it’s a documentary about Orca whales (killer whales!) and how they’ve injured and killed a number of trainers at Sea World. Some real life cover up/expose type stuff. Very interesting and well done. I also watched Drinking Buddies, which is so much better than the title, cover, or description made it sound. I don’t want to give anything away, but it’s about two people who work together. We have a friend who also watched it and took away a completely different outcome/life lesson from the ending than we did. It’s kind of ruining our friendship and making me question everything ever (just kidding, kind of). But seriously, if you’ve seen it I really want to know what you took away from it so I can rub it in his wrong face.
What have you been up to? Eaten anything amazing (leave me links!)? What should I watch on Netflix?!
