My sincerest apologies if you’re looking for The Sunday Brunch Buffet and The Monday Menu this week. We’ve been having the time of our lives on vacation and things are a little crazy right now. I can tell you I’m making BBQ Country Pork Ribs tomorrow and probably spinach and artichoke mac n cheese the next day but other than that, there are no real menu plans. I thought instead I would catch you up on all we’ve been doing.
The first night we arrived it was fun to see our children remember and rediscover their friends.
My husband immediately took to entertaining the kids with music.
They love it.
My friend Melissa and I walked to Venice Bakery and had quite a time trying to decide what to try. The almond paste pastry was my favorite.
Melissa makes one heck of a minestrone. It was just what I needed.
Thursday was their son Kingston’s first birthday and Friday was Casper’s first birthday. Its so fun having them that close in age. We celebrated with a caterpillar cake.
It got a little messy.
Saturday we started the day at Stan’s donut shop.
I love my boys.
We smashed a dozen+ donuts. It was insane. They’re famous for their peanut butter filled donuts. I liked the peanut butter, banana, and chocolate chip one the best.
After that we walked around the La Brea tar pits and outside LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art).
Our beautiful (and generous) hosts.
Then we did a little shopping at The Grove, a massive outdoor mall. No photo. What?!
After church on Sunday we tackled the monumental task of loading the kids up in backpacks for a hike at the Temescal canyon trails.
The scenery was unbelievable.
From there we went to Kayndaves for a filling Mexican dinner. It was really good. I had the chicken suiza enchiladas.
Needless to say, we’re exhausted. I’ll be back in a day or two to share a beautiful recipe with you. In the meantime, I’m going to bed.
