We’ve survived another week in California. Its almost a little sad because I know our time here is almost over. While it will be nice to get back into the swing of things back home, its fun finding new adventures each day out here. I wanted to share with you what this week looked like.
Lola got a free balloon at the grocery store and they clipped it to her dress. She’s also been playing with another balloon our friends had at their house. I needed some quiet time during Casper’s nap, so I let her watch Fantastic Mr. Fox for a while. She got cuddly with the balloons.
Things kids love: balloons, guitar cases, and fake fireplaces.
Chocolate Oat Bars happened. You had to know they would.
I also made Crispy Butternut Squash Ravioli and oven roasted asparagus. Its kind of hard to cook in someone else’s kitchen.
A rare moment of all three kids playing together. Cas is kind of a loner.
We went shopping at the Promenade in Santa Monica. American Apparel was a necessary stop.
These garlic knots were not messing around. Lots of Garlic. Lots of butter.
Pizza with spinach, basil, cherry tomatoes, and romano cheese. Health food meets comforting indulgence.
We went to an ice cream shop called Scoops. This place doesn’t mess around. Handmade ice cream with different, unique flavors every day.
I got a scoop of Brown Brown Bread. I loved it. I don’t even really know what it was. It was a bit like caramel with toffee bits. Other options were maple oreo, baileys chocolate, and honey wasabi.
Saturdays mean nothing to my kids. Awake before seven.
We went to Umami Burger. I got the – you guessed it – Umami burger. It lived up to the hype. Caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms, a Parmesan crisp, and umami ketchup.
We also got sweet potato fries. They came covered in cinnamon brown sugar. I think I would have preferred them with salt. We also had onion rings, which were amazing.
I love our friends.
