However if you’re a responsible person trying not to contract a food-borne illness, then let’s talk about how to make cookie dough you can eat without getting sick.
How to make edible cookie dough that’s safe to eat
No raw eggs
To make cookie dough that’s safe to eat, you’ll want to be sure it doesn’t call for eggs. Raw eggs run the risk of salmonella.
You could also purchase pasteurized eggs to keep yourself safe. However, none of my edible cookie dough recipes call for eggs, so you won’t need to look for anything special at the store!
No raw flour
The consumption of raw flour has also been known to spread foodborne illness.
If you really want to be safe, spread your flour on a rimmed baking sheet and bake at 350ºF for about 5 minutes to kill any bacteria.
