Happy Sunday! How was your New Year’s Eve? We took the kids out to eat at a restaurant near our house, and it was a total blast. There were apps, drinks, salad bar, and then we still had a full meal to eat. The restaurant we went to offers small wrapped gifts with the kids meal, which is really fun. Wiley got a rubber duck, which is a major prize in our house. Then we watched the latest Avengers movie with the older kids, which was intense, but the kids loved it.

It felt good to get back in the swing of things this week. I love the motivation that comes with a Monday, and January feels like one big Monday to me. I’m currently trying to be more intentional with the way I’m using Facebook and Instagram for business as well as diving deeper into the world photography editing. I’m also hoping to make time for developing a few resources for vegetarians as well as food bloggers this year. So far I’m right on track, which feels great. Here’s what else is on my mind this month.

    1. TV Recommendations

TV is coming back alive after the holidays, and I’m pretty excited about it. True Detective season 3 looks promising, I’ll probably watch season 2 of Friends From College (Keegan-Michael Key is the BEST), and I just binged through all of High Maintenance in anticipation of season 3. I can’t believe how long it took me to find that show. The character development in such short periods of time is unbelievable.

I’m thinking about getting Hulu for a few months just to binge through Seinfeld and ER, even though I’ve definitely seen them all already. Oh, also, have you watched Birdbox? You’ve probably watched Birdbox. It was… a lot of things. I feel like I liked it, and then I thought about it more and felt like there were a lot of holes. Also, I do not like things where kids are in danger, so….

    2. Food to Fuel my Newfound Soup Obsession

I’m having a serious moment with soup this season. Here are a few I want to try.

Curried Butternut Squash Soup with Smoky Chickpeas

    Fire-Roasted Minestrone with Kale Pesto

Smoky White Bean Kale and Wheat Berry Soup

    Instant Pot Pasta e Fajioli

    Vegan French Onion Stew

    3. New Backgrounds and Photo Practice

I made a few new photo backgrounds, and have major decision anxiety when it comes to choosing which ones to use. Do you have a favorite from the two below?

    4. Hot Rice Bags

Hot rice bags are my very best friend in the dead of winter. I’ll stick one in the microwave for two minutes, then sit with it on the couch, rest it on the back of my neck, or warm up my bed before I climb in. If you’re constantly cold like I am, you need these in your life.

    5. Reading

Our book club finished To Shake The Sleeping Self, which I loved. Now we’ve started reading Atomic Habits, which I feel like I kind of already do. I’m stepping into it a little cautiously because as an enneagram type one I feel like I need to limit myself on just how much self improvement I do. I already have a lot of amazing habits in place and it’s a real concern that I will totally burn myself out if I try to improve everything in my life at once.

    6. Kids Swimsuits

My kids start indoor swimming lessons this week, pray for my soul. I found so many cute swimming suits I wanted to share with you.
