This last week was ROUGH.
Maybe you noticed my internet absence (or maybe you didn’t). Whether you were wondering where I was or not, I was right here, at home, curled up in the fetal position trying not to die. I hate to mention the stomach flu on a food blog, but that’s all that has consumed my life for the last seven days.
Rewind to a week ago Saturday. We attended a very lovely birthday party for a sweet little friend turning one, enjoyed some of the best pizza and cupcakes ever, and retuned to our lives. Most people who went home from that party came down with the same bug which hit me late Sunday night. I don’t think I’ve ever been so sick in my life. I spent all day Monday in bed. Let me tell you – that never happens. The last time I had a stomach bug I was still getting up and nursing a baby and feeding the other kids and doing whatever needed to be done. This time – no go. Even by Tuesday and Wednesday I wasn’t really able to eat anything.
The boys were sick as well on Monday, so my husband had his hands full with patients. Thank goodness he works from home and was able to help so much, he even did laundry and homeschooling! I’m convinced he’s a saint. Luckily I was feeling better by Thursday when he and my daughter came down with it. By the time they recovered it had been a full week that we had been quarantined to the house and everyone was definitely getting on each other’s nerves.
All that being said, I think we’re still recovering emotionally from being confined to the house and the couch for so many days. I can’t remember the last time I’ve gone 3+ days without cooking and the blog was definitely on the back burner during all of this. I hope to share another recipe with you soon, but in the meantime let’s just appreciate how these chocolate chip oatmeal cookies pretty much nursed me back to health. For reals.

Who says you can’t talk about the stomach flu on your food blog? Obviously that’s pretty much been a guiding principle for Carpé Season 🙂 Sorry to hear about your week; so many sick people in one house – disaster! Here’s to spring weather and open windows and fewer germs!

You were totally my inspiration for it being ok! Yes to spring and being free from germs for a while!
