We’ve been so busy having summer fun around here!

Casper started swimming lessons last week. After Lola’s rough go of it last year I wasn’t sure what to expect, but he’s rocking it!  Lola and Strummer enjoy playing in the sprinkler area while he has class and I even found the courage to stay for open swim one day with all three by myself. It was exhausting, and I was ready to go way before they were, but we had a lot of fun.

I also took the kids on their first strawberry picking adventure last week. I was afraid they would eat a bunch before we paid for them, but they were totally cool about it. Surprisingly Lola was the only one really interested in picking and the boys just stood around patiently while we filled the basket. The best part was sitting in the car eating our fill when we were done. Now they’ve been finding their way into lunches, yogurt, and chocolate covering. I’m hoping to get back out this weekend to replenish my supply.

Anyone else been watching the new season of Orange is the New Black? We still have a couple episodes left and then I’ll be sad that we don’t have anything to binge on again. I’m mostly loving this season. The back stories have been great, but I feel like Piper and Alex as a lead storyline just doesn’t work any more. I have zero interest in watching them. The weird sexual stuff is also beyond too much for me, but at least I feel like it has been pretty isolated this season.

I watched Mr. Nobody while Jeron was out of town a few weeks ago, will someone please explain that to me? I was basically on Wikipedia the whole time I was watching it reading the synopsis so I knew just what the heck was going on. My biggest problem is they never acknowledged WHY he was the last mortal man on earth. Like, why not get a pig, Nemo?

You guys. We have our ultrasound TOMORROW. I seriously cannot even wait. I should probably be waiting to write this post until after that so I can do some big reveal or something buuuuut…. That’s just not me. Seriously so excited though. We’re celebrating afterward by going to a farm that makes pizzas with the kids and some friends. Should be a pretty epic day! By the end of the week I’ll be 20 weeks – half way through! Even though I might look like I’m due any day now.

I had a bad stomach ache for a few days last week which resulted in me not eating much. Can we talk for a moment about just how terrible the BRAT diet is? Bananas, (white) rice, applesauce, and (white) toast. I don’t want to eat any of those things ever, much less by themselves in place of the nice meal I made my family. I was at a total loss for what to feed myself that wouldn’t make things worse, but finally came up with a recipe for two giant biscuits made with white flour and Greek yogurt. It was totally nourishing and hit the spot. Now I’m trying to pump my pregnancy weight up and decided brownies were the way to go. Best decision ever. These were so good and just what I needed to get back on the regular food wagon.

I have a very serious birthday party for a six year old to plan involving my first attempt at a princess cake that I’m kind of regretting promising my daughter. We’re talking doll-in-cake style with a dress made out of frosting. Wish me luck, say a prayer, and if you’re coming to the party, just eat the cake and laugh about it with me instead of pretending like it actually looks good. Also – SIX. Unbelievable.

What have you been up to on these beautiful summer days? What’s your favorite seasonal food to eat? I always forget about some of the best stuff, although I’ve been buying ALL of the fruit to the point where we could never even eat it all if we tried.
