This garlic bread baguette is some of the best garlic bread I've ever had! Crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, this side is full of buttery garlic flavor.

Garlic bread is a staple alongside pasta dishes and many other recipes.

Today I'm sharing my favorite garlic bread recipe with you, which I just so happen to think is the best! We're talking about a crusty baguette, loaded with buttery, garlicky goodness that's gonna make your mouth water just thinking about it.

There are lots of ways to make garlic bread, but making it with a baguette is the best way to go in my opinion. You can slice it into little buttery sandwiches or open it up and make neat little two-bite garlic breads.

This recipe is incredibly fast and easy to make, let's take a look!

Ingredients

  • Butter
  • Garlic
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Parsley
  • French baguette

How to make baguette garlic bread

  1. If using a take and bake variety of baguette, bake the bread 2 minutes shy of the package directions.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375ºF.
  3. In a small bowl, combine butter, garlic, Parmesan, and parsley.
  4. Cut the bread almost completely in half lengthwise like you're making a sandwich.
  5. Spread the butter mixture evenly over the inside top and bottom.
  6. Close the bread and place it on the baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes or until the bread is hot and slightly crusty and the butter is completely melted. Allow to cool slightly before cutting into pieces.

Top tips

Vegetarian/vegan garlic bread

If you are trying to keep your garlic bread vegetarian or vegan, make sure you check your cheese since not all Parmesan cheese is vegetarian. Most Parmesan cheese is made with animal rennet, but you should be able to find one made with vegetable rennet instead.

How to store

Leftover garlic bread can be kept in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, but is best enjoyed the day it is made. You can also freeze garlic bread before or after baking for up to 3 months.

Tips for customizing baguette garlic bread

  • Omit the parsley, or swap it for dried parsley
  • Use thick sliced white bread instead of the baguette
  • Use more or less butter to taste
  • Use vegan butter to make this vegan garlic bread
  • Leave off the Parmesan cheese

FAQ

What makes this the best garlic bread recipe?

I think this is the best garlic bread recipe because it's loaded with butter and garlic. I love using a baguette for garlic bread because it's a little crusty and a little soft. It's perfect for picking up those last bits of pasta sauce on your plate!

What is the best bread to use for garlic bread?

The quality of your bread is very important here. Using the best bread is really what makes it the best ever garlic bread.

I always use the "Take and Bake" variety of French bread available at my grocery store. This allows you to bake the bread to a soft inside and crusty exterior. You can use fully baked bread but you may want to adjust the baking time as it can sometimes get a little crustier than desired.

What is the green herb on garlic bread?

In this recipe, as with most, the green herb on garlic bread is parsley. It's a mild herb that doesn't overpower the garlic flavor. If you wanted to try something a little different, thyme, sage, or basil would be other good options.
