There’s nothing more refreshing than a minty mojito on a warm night.
Who am I kidding? A mojito is right for any time of day! With it’s fresh lime taste and fizzy bubbly water, it’s kind of the perfect drink.
I wanted to make a mojito recipe that everyone could enjoy! Meaning…no alcohol! Whether you are pregnant, serving kids, or abstain from alcohol entirely, this will definitely be a refreshing mocktail recipe you’ll come back to as adults and children alike.
What is a mojito mocktail?
A mocktail is like a cocktail without the alcohol. It’s a combination of fun, fresh flavors that makes staying hydrated a little more fun! It is also sometimes called a virgin cocktail.
A mojito mocktail keeps all the fresh mint and lime flavors found in a mojito and removes the alcohol.
Ingredients
- Fresh mint
- Limes
- Honey simple syrup
- Club soda
How to make a virgin mojito
- In a heavy bottomed glass, add mint leaves and lime wedges. Muddle just until the lime has released its juice and the glass smells minty. (Heres an affiliate link to a muddler I like!)
- Add 2 tablespoons honey syrup, then add ice and top the glass with club soda.
- Garnish with additional lime wedges and mint leaves if desired.
How to make honey simple syrup
Combine two parts honey with one part warm water in a small mason jar. Cover and shake until combined.

Top tips and questions
What kind of glass do I use?
I recommend using a sturdy glass with a heavy bottom, such as a regular drinking glass or rocks glass (also sometimes called an old fashioned glass). Do not attempt to muddle in a stemmed glass.
Do I need a muddler to make a mojito?
A muddler will help get the juice out of the lime and the essence out of the mint, but if you don’t have one you can use the end of a wooden spoon, a fork, or simply rub the mint between your hands before adding and use bottled or fresh-squeezed lime juice.
Is a mocktail healthier than a cocktail?
I would say yes, but health is relative to everyone. You’ll save about 100 calories by leaving out the alcohol, which I think makes this a healthy option. It’s also naturally sweetened, so you’re not consuming highly processed sugar that can leave you feeling gross.
Tips for customizing
- Swap the club soda for tonic water, lime La Croix (or other flavored sparkling water), or lemon-lime soda
- Instead of honey syrup, try simple syrup or agave syrup
- Experiment with muddling berries with the mint and lime, or add fruit juice before adding the club soda for additional flavors like strawberry, raspberry, pineapple, and more
- To serve a crowd, simply multiply the ingredients by how many people you will be serving
- To make it a mojito cocktail, add 2 ounces white rum with the club soda
