Ingredients

  • Goat cheese
  • Cream cheese
  • Roasted red pepper
  • Coarse kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Lemon juice

How to make roasted red pepper whipped goat cheese

  1. In the bowl of a food processor, process goat cheese and cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add the roasted red pepper and process again until smooth and incorporated.
  3. Add salt, pepper, and lemon juice to taste and process one more time. Use immediately or refrigerate until ready to use.

Top tips

Roasting red peppers

I used a few large pieces of roasted red pepper from a jar (patted dry) but you could also roast red peppers yourself.

To roast red peppers, slice peppers in half, place cut side down on a pan, drizzle with a bit of olive oil, and sprinkle with salt.

Roast in the oven at 375°F until the skin is blistery and charred. Remove from oven, place in a small bowl, and cover with plastic wrap for 10 minutes before peeling off the skin.

The best food processor for making whipped goat cheese

I've been really happy with my Cuisinart food processor (affiliate link). It's great for making hummus, energy balls, walnut burgers, and more.

How to store

Store roasted red pepper whipped goat cheese in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. I do not recommend freezing it.

Tips for customizing red pepper goat cheese

  • Swap the roasted red pepper for another vegetable, like roasted beets
  • Leave out the roasted red pepper for plain whipped goat cheese
  • Add fresh herbs, like thyme or basil
  • Add honey for a bit of sweetness
  • Add crushed red pepper flakes for a bit of spice
  • Add roasted garlic for a savory, garlic flavor

FAQ

What is goat cheese?

Goat cheese is made from the milk of goats, instead of cows. It's available in many forms, but the most common type is soft, fresh goat cheese that is found in a log shape. It's creamy, tangy, easily spreadable and has a very distinct flavor.

Can I make whipped goat cheese without a food processor?

If you don't have a food processor, you can whip up the goat cheese by hand, and add in finely chopped roasted red peppers. The flavor won't be quite the same, but it will still be delicious!
