Cool and creamy whipped feta dip is the perfect party food, or serve it as an easy lunch or dinner. With only a 5 simple ingredients (plus optional toppings) and no real cooking required, this is a beginner friendly recipe for any time of year.

I have to say, I love all dips, hot and cold. This whipped feta dip is especially cool and creamy, making it perfect for those warm summer evenings where you want something light to snack on as you sit on the porch watching the lightening bugs come to life.

The best part is it’s incredibly easy to make with just 5 ingredients. Of course you can go wild with the toppings or keep it simple with just olive oil and a sprinkling of herbs.

If you fall in love with it like I did, you can change up the toppings and serve it different every time. Serve it sweet with sliced honeycomb, or savory with the olive oil or some roasted tomatoes. It would be a great swap for the cheese in my oven roasted tomato and pesto panini!

Whipped feta dip gets plenty of tang from the brine-packed feta and whole milk Greek yogurt. The yogurt also helps make it super creamy. A lot of whipped feta dip recipes use cream cheese, which you’re welcome to use instead if you prefer, but I like the lightness that comes from the yogurt.

This whipped feta dip recipe can easily be made into a full meal. Just add your favorite jarred or home roasted veggies and a crusty ciabatta roll. Or enjoy as a dip for crudité, bread, or crackers.

    Ingredients

    • Feta cheese
    • Greek yogurt
    • Olive oil
    • Garlic
    • Salt & pepper
all of the ingredients used in whipped feta dip

How to make whipped feta dip

    1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor until light, smooth, and creamy.
    2. Taste and adjust the salt and pepper if needed.
    3. Transfer to a serving bowl, creating indentations for the toppings to sit.
    4. Top with olive oil, chopped pistachios, dill, and parsley.

    Top tips and questions

What kind of food processor should I buy?

I’ve had my Cuisinart food processor (affiliate link) for years, and it always gets the job done! However, any full size food processor should be able to make this easy recipe.

What kind of feta should I buy?

I recommend purchasing feta packed in brine for this recipe. It has so much more moisture than pre-crumbled feta. If you can’t find it in brine, try to purchase it in a block rather than pre-crumbled.

Can I use fat free ingredients?

You could use low fat or fat free feta and yogurt if you prefer, but you will get the creamiest dip from using full fat. This pairs with so many light and wholesome ingredients that I think it’s a balanced choice.

What to serve with whipped feta dip

    • Crackers – Any sturdy cracker is going to be great in here. Think Triscuits, Wheat Thins, maybe even Ritz!
    • Chips – Homemade or store bought pita chips are perfect, but regular kettle cooked potato chips would be tasty also.
    • Vegetables – Crunchy favorites such as carrots, bell peppers, and cucumbers. Roasted veggies make a better topping than dipper.
    • Bread – Crusty baguettes, sourdough rolls, warm pita bread, or naan.

    How to store whipped feta

Store any leftovers in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to three days. I do not recommend freezing this dip.

Can I make this ahead of time?

This dip can be made up to three days in advance. It does firm up a bit as it sits in the fridge, but is still great for dipping. If you prefer, store it without toppings, then give it a good stir before plating, topping, and serving.

    Tips for customizing whipped feta

    • Swap the topping for balsamic tomatoes, olives, or raw honey and honeycomb
    • Use as a sandwich spread on this hummus sandwich
    • Use more yogurt to make the dip thinner
    • Swap the yogurt for cream cheese

    Ingredients

    • 8 ounces feta cheese, packed in brine
    • ¼ cup whole milk Greek yogurt
    • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1 clove garlic
    • Coarse kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

    Optional toppings for serving

    • Olive oil
    • Honey
    • Pistachios
    • Dill
    • Parsley

    Instructions

    • Remove feta from the brine and add to the bowl of a food processor. Add the yogurt, 1 tablespoon olive oil, and garlic. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
    • Close the lid and run the food processor for a few minutes until smooth, creamy, and a light and fluffy texture. If it is too thick, add the extra tablespoon of olive oil.
    • Taste and adjust the salt and pepper if needed.
    • Transfer to a bowl, smoothing out the top and creating an indentation in the middle. Drizzle with olive oil or honey, then top with chopped pistachios, dill, and parsley.
