Vegan Cookie Dough For One - 5 minutes, 6 ingredients! The easiest, healthiest cookie dough you'll ever make! #vegan #cookiedough

This Vegan Cookie Dough for One is healthy, naturally sweetened, egg-free, and dairy-free, but still tastes and feels just like the real thing! This is the best vegan cookie dough recipe and has been made and loved over half a million times. You'll also love this single serving cookie dough for satisfying your sweet tooth without all the work.

Edible cookie dough is the ultimate treat for me.

It has the same texture and flavor as real cookie dough, but is 100% safe to eat.

Sometimes you just want a treat without having to mix up a whole batch of cookies. Sometimes you're pregnant (I'm not) and you really just shouldn't be eating raw eggs or flour.

This is the healthiest, easiest cookie dough you'll ever throw together in a moment of need. With only six ingredients, you might already have everything you need on hand.

Ingredients

ingredients for vegan cookie dough for one.
  • Coconut oil
  • Maple syrup
  • Vanilla extract
  • Flour
  • Salt
  • Chocolate chips

How to make vegan cookie dough

  1. Mix the melted coconut oil with the maple syrup and vanilla extract
  2. Stir in flour and salt
  3. Add chocolate chips

Top tips

Measure carefully

When making a recipe this small, accurate quantities are even more important. Be sure to measure your ingredients carefully to get the best texture.

Use real maple syrup

Sugary pancake syrup won't cut it here. Make sure you're using 100% pure maple syrup.

How to make cookie dough safe to eat

To make cookie dough safe to eat, you'll need to skip the eggs and heat your flour to remove any bacteria. This recipe was developed without the use of eggs, and you can check the notes section of the recipe card below or the FAQ section to learn how to heat treat flour.

How to store edible cookie dough

You can store this edible cookie dough in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months. You'll get the best texture by letting it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes before enjoying.

Tips for customizing edible cookie dough

People have already shared tons of adaptations in the comments, but here are a few of the highlights:

  • If you want vegan peanut butter single serving cookie dough try this version
  • For a baked version, try this cookie mug cake, vegan chocolate chip cookie for one or these vegan oatmeal chocolate chip cookies
  • Microwave the dough for 15 seconds for gooey melted chocolate cookie dough
  • Swap the coconut oil for vegetable oil or melted butter (not vegan)
  • Swap the maple syrup for equal amounts of  brown sugar, or slightly less honey (again, not vegan) or agave
  • Swap the all purpose flour for a mix of gluten free oat flour and coconut flour to make it gluten free

FAQ

Coconut oil in cookie dough?

Coconut oil (affiliate link) is magic. It melts in your mouth and doesn't taste too terribly coconut-y. The temperature of the oil makes a big difference on the consistency here.

My house is pretty cold in this polar vortex, so after some good ol' stirring it was perfect for me. If it comes out too runny for you just pop it in the fridge for a few minutes and it'll firm right up.

Does this vegan cookie dough taste like maple syrup?

Coconut oil and maple syrup are strong flavors, but I find they cancel each other out in this recipe. If you measure carefully it shouldn't taste too much like coconut or maple, although you might still taste it a tiny bit.

Is it bad to eat raw flour?

Recently there have been concerns about eating raw flour. It is generally considered unsafe to eat raw flour.

To make your flour safe to eat, toast the flour on a parchment lined baking sheet in a 350ºF oven for 5 minutes and allow to cool before using.

Can I bake edible cookie dough?

No. While this tastes delicious as raw dough, it lacks some of the necessary ingredients to turn it into an actual cookie. See the customization options above for baked options.

Honestly I always eat it immediately, but I think it would keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator indefinitely.

I tried refrigerating it and it definitely kept it fresh! The only thing is that the coconut oil will harden the entire thing (you'll even see white all around the edges if you store it in a clear container) so you must microwave it for ~10 seconds to enjoy 🙂

I haven't tried it, but I don't think it would be great. The coconut oil mixed with the maple syrup is what gives it the proper texture, but you could try melting the butter or swapping the maple syrup for sugar.

I made this at home tastes absolutely amazing. Did have to add a little extra syrup and more chocolate chips to make it taste proper but other than that I think this is a perfect swap if you're vegan. (Tried it the other way too with sugar instead also tasted amazing that way)

I swapped out the flour for almond flour & I ran out of vanilla extract so I used vanilla almond milk instead and this is delicious! I’m not sure what others are complaining about but as someone who is vegan, this tastes like the vegan cookie dough I always buy! SO delicious!

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy this recipe. Please be sure to measure the ingredients carefully, if they are a tiny bit off it can affect the taste. If it still tastes bland try adding a pinch more salt and chocolate chips. Using honey sounds like a great idea!

Why not add in a step to toast the flour? Anyone making this recipe, please BEWARE: Flour should NOT be consumed raw!! Lindsay, by omitting this step, you are putting your readers' healths at risk. Sorry to say, it comes across as very uninformed and irresponsible, especially when you respond to concerns by saying you like to "live life on the edge." You may like to risk getting food born illnesses, but I sure don't!

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. This is intended to be a quick and easy no bake dessert. Readers are welcome to keep themselves informed on the food they eat and whether it is safe for them or not. I am informed on the topic but am honestly not concerned about eating raw flour, but if others are they are welcome to that opinion and to handle their food accordingly. I will add a note to the recipe so that readers can make their own informed decision.

I really dont think it's her job to inform us of things most people should already know and if you dont know a quick Google search will let you know. Shes really not putting anyone at risk by sharing a recipe... people put themselves at risk by not looking into things properly themselves. Shes not making anyone eat it raw. And to be fair most people still prefer not to take an extra step and bake the flour.. or at least I dont and none of the people I know take the time for that.

Since this was posted several people have gotten every sick from eating raw flour from E-coli. That's scary. Maybe heating the flour in the oven for a period of time would kill any dangerous pathogens.

Can I use only coconut flour to substitute for all purpose? Due to coconut flour's absorbency, usually you use a quarter of the measurement for the all purpose flour. Would slightly less than a tbsp of coconut flour work then, or not really?

I haven't used coconut flour much, so I'm not super familiar with how it behaves, but I would just add a little at a time until you get the desired consistency, or if it starts to get weird add another flour like almond or oat.

    Hello,
It is very dangerous to et raw all-purpose flour! It can contain salmonella. The Centers for Disease Control warns against this. I love your recipes, but really think you should reconsider this recipe. https://www.cdc.gov/features/no-raw-dough/index.html

Thankfully e.coli is very rare, we just hear a lot about outbreaks on the news. There have not been any reported cases of e.coli from raw flour in a long time, I hope you were still able to enjoy your treat! If it is a concern for you in the future, you can bake the flour first as recommended in the post.

Wow that was so good and just what I needed! I have a ton of food issues so really hard to find recipes these days. I used 1-1 GF flour and I can’t have vanilla so omitted that. People, it’s not gonna taste exactly like cookie dough...let’s be real...but it was really good and hit the spot for a sweet treat that tastes cookie dough like especially the texture. I did add a little more salt too. Oh and for the next batch I added crushed peppermints and some peanut butter...yum!!! There are so many fun things you can add. Thanks so much for this recipe!!!
