Mocktails are becoming really popular for all sorts of reasons.

Maybe you're pregnant, or sober, or just trying to cut back on your alcohol consumption. Whatever your reason, you want a fun drink made from simple ingredients you can throw together at home.

This apple cider mocktail doesn't require you to make a simple syrup and is ready in just minutes. I like it cold and crisp, but I think it would also be good with warm apple cider. This would make a fun addition to your Thanksgiving table, or try it for a cozy fall movie night or trip to the apple orchard!

Top tips

The best kombucha for mocktails

I prefer GT's Synergy brand of kombucha over others because it uses all natural ingredients and is generally just the healthiest option I've found. They make a lovely honeycrisp apple flavor. If you can't find apple kombucha, consider swapping it for ginger beer or ginger ale.

How to store

This recipe makes just one drink and is best enjoyed soon after mixing. If you're making a larger batch or have some leftover, store without ice covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 day. It will start to lose some of its fizziness, so you could store longer if you're waiting to add the kombucha and club soda.

Tips for customizing your apple cider mocktail

  • Swap the kombucha for ginger beer or ginger ale
  • Add 1-2 ounces of whiskey to make this an alcoholic cocktail
  • Make a cinnamon sugar rim by rubbing the edge of your glass with a cut lemon wedge and dipping the rim in a bowl of cinnamon sugar
  • Use a flavored bubbly water instead of club soda, such as cranberry, orange, or lemon
  • Use the servings slider in the recipe card to scale this up for a party and serve in a pitcher or punch bowl
  • Add a few drops of maple syrup to make a sweeter drink

FAQ

What is kombucha?

Kombucha is a fermented beverage made from tea and other ingredients. It is often flavored with juice, spices, and more. Kombucha can be made at home or purchased at the grocery store. Due to the fermentation, it is naturally bubbly and can be very refreshing.

Where can I find ginger juice?

Ginger juice can be a little tricky to find, and it's ok to leave it out of this recipe if you can't get your hands on it. You can sometimes find ginger juice in the mixers section of the liquor store, otherwise I've also seen it near the packaged lemon juice or other juices.

Can I use apple juice instead of apple cider?

Yes, you could swap apple juice for the apple cider. The drink will not taste as deep and rich, but will still have lots of great apple flavor.
